1 Corinthians 12:12

1 Corinthians 12:121 Corinthians 12:121 Corinthians 12:12

HISTORY

The story behind the name and scripture of BCWC.

The  Body of Christ Worship Center was instituted by the leading of the Holy  Spirit in November of 2004.  After conducting a weekly Bible study in  their home located at 1711 Wildwood Avenue for approximately one year,  Pastor and Co-pastor Wyatt clearly heard the Lord direct them to begin  an official ministry.  During their time of prayer, the Lord lead them  to I Corinthians 12.

While  studying that scripture, verse 12 became the central focus of their  prayer.  From that place, God gave them the name “Body of Christ Worship  Center”.  The search for a facility began in October, 2004 and the  current location was soon found.  The building at 2821 Warm Springs Road  was leased by Pastor Wyatt and renovations began in November.   Officially, the church began operations on December 31, 2004 during its  Watch Night Service.

After  having begun with three families in Bible study, the ministry began  with approximately five families.  As time has passed, the Lord added to  the church daily “such as should be saved”.

Serving  the Lord at the Warm Springs Road location enabled us to experience  exponential growth and we began looking for the opportunity to relocate  due to capacity constraints.  Upon looking at several facilities, the Holy Spirit led Pastor Gerald to 1500 13th Avenue. Upon entry to the facility, we realized that it would require significant investment and modifications to be optimal for a complete worship experience. The demolition and subsequent renovation began in February 2008. All  funding for that process was obtained by the selfless giving of our  membership and we were able to complete the $25,000 project by June,  2008 DEBT FREE. Subsequently, we have continued with modifications and  enhancements to the main sanctuary and adjacent Administration Office  building.

In October, 2011 BCWC was given the opportunity to expand the ministry  to establish an Outreach Center at 1209 Pou Street.  Details of this new  venture can be found under the Ministries page within the Outreach  tab.  God continues to do major things for the Kingdom of God through  the hands of BCWC.  We are grateful to God for ALL that He has done and  continues to do by His grace.

What we Believe

We (BCWC) Believe…

  1. There  is one God, Almighty and Eternal, existent in a Trinity: The Father,  The Son (The Word), and The Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit). He is not three  Gods, but one God in three eternal Manifestations, Distinctions, or  Persons (as the word was originally defined).
  2. God  is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He has revealed Himself in  Nature, in the Written Word (the Bible) and in His Living Word, (The  Lord Jesus Christ).
  3. The  Bible is the Word of God, plenary verbally inspired and is the first  and final basis and test for doctrine, experience and conduct.
  4. Sin, rebellion and transgression against Gods Word and law, was practiced first by a fallen spirit being, Satan.
  5. Man,  male and female, was created in the image and after the likeness of God  to fellowship with Him and to reflect His love and power through  fruitfulness and dominion over the earth.
  6. Believers must live a lifestyle of love, demonstrating the compassion of Christ to all they encounter.
  7. Believers  must give prayer, respect, and concern for the government and all who  are in authority. They must exhibit qualities of good citizenship, but  must never compromise the standards of their heavenly citizenship for  that of the earth.
  8. At death, believers' spirits go directly into the presence of God, awaiting the resurrection and glorification of their bodies.
  9. At  death, unbelievers go directly to a place called hell, a place of  torment, awaiting the resurrection of their bodies and the final  judgment when they will be taken out of hell and cast bodily into the  lake of fire. Death, hell, and Satan himself will be cast into the lake  of fire.
  10. The  Lord Jesus Christ will return bodily for believers, raising the  sleeping ones from their graves (the first resurrection) and will  ultimately rule with them on the earth for one thousand years.
  11. Through  Satan's influence, man fell from his original position into sin and by  sin into death---a state of estrangement and separation from God's life  and nature. All mankind and natural creation suffers as a consequence.  This necessitated a redeemer.
  12. Jesus, the Living Word of God, was born of a virgin, into the earth, though He preexisted with the Father as God in  eternity past. He is the Only Begotten Son of God who lived a perfect,  sinless human life, died a substitutionary death, rose bodily from the  dead, and ascended to heaven to the right hand of God the Father, as  Lord and Christ. Jesus alone is the Redeemer whose blood is the price  for mankind to be restored to fellowship with God.
  13. The  Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, is God in unlimited accessible form. It is  He who empowered Jesus Christ to fulfill His earthly mission. He is God,  perfecting the Church into the image of Christ and performing acts of  power to bring glory to Jesus.
  14. Salvation  from sin is by grace through faith in the finished redemptive work of  the Lord Jesus Christ: His death, burial, resurrection and exaltation.  It is accomplished in the believer by the regenerating work of the Holy  Ghost.
  15. All  men must believe on and confess the Lord Jesus Christ, must repent of  their sins and be baptized in water in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ  (Gods Name for salvation), for the remission of sins and for  identification with Christ and His redemptive work.
  16. The  baptism and infilling with the Holy Ghost are necessary for all  believers with all His accompanying signs, fruits and manifestations.
  17. Bodily healing is a part of the grace provided for all through the atonement.
  18. The  church is Jesus Christ's corporate Body, continuing His ministry on the  earth. It is the visible part of God's otherwise invisible kingdom. It  may be entered only by the second birth (salvation). Its purpose is to  serve and glorify God in Worship, Warfare (spiritual) and Witness. Its  means of doing so is to strengthen its present members and to make new  disciples of Christ.
  19. The  church shall observe ordinances established and confirmed by the Lord  Jesus and practiced by the apostles. Among these are water baptism by  immersion, The Lords Supper (Holy Communion), foot washing, holy  matrimony, the laying on of hands, the dedication and blessing of  infants and small children, the burial of the dead.
  20. There  will be a final day in which The Lord Jesus Christ will judge all men  and assign their eternal abode based on their acceptance or rejection of  Him and His Word. A new heaven and earth await the believers, and a  lake of fire awaits the unbelievers.
